Kenya visa types

Kenya visa can be divided into three types that you can use for different purposes. Every passport holder can apply for one of these eVisa to Kenya types:


  • Tourist eVisa: a single-entry visa that is valid for a total of 90 days. It allows travel for tourism purposes (including friends/relative visits).

  • Business eVisa: valid for 90 days, allows business-related travel to Kenya. This includes negotiating a contract, attending a business meeting, or a conference.

  • Transit eVisa: is valid for 72 hours from the planned date of arrival into Kenya. You have to transit to another country, take another flight within the 72-hour validity period.

Tourism eVisa

To make an application for a tourist visa to Kenya, all applicants should prepare:

  • a legible scan or a photograph of your valid passport's bio-data page
  • applicants' recent photograph that complies with the passport photo guidelines
  • proof of hotel reservations
  • copy of the return ticket

Business eVisa

For a business visa, all applicants need to prepare:

  • a legible scan or a photo of the bio-data page from your valid passport
  • a recent photograph of the applicant (taken within the previous 6 months) that meets the passport photo standards
  • your company's registration certificate
  • the inviter's or representative's staff ID
  • the inviter's or representative's Kenyan ID
  • copy of the inviter's or representative's Kenyan passport (bio-data page)
  • copy of the inviter's or representative's Kenyan passport page where the immigration status is stated

Transit eVisa

When applying for a transit visa to the Republic of Kenya, all travellers are obliged to prepare:

  • a legible scan or a photo of the bio-data page from your valid passport
  • applicant's recent photograph that meets the passport photo requirements
  • evidence of hotel reservations
  • proof of having a return ticket
  • copy of the onward ticket
